Chocolate Decadence-February 3, 2011

The Junior League of Boca Raton celebrated their 10th Annual Chocolate Decadence event on Thursday, February 3rd at the Shops at Boca Center and there was definitely no shortage of gourmet fare.  “The Sweetest Party in Town” included a lavish sampling of sweet and savory dishes from renowned South Florida restaurants and caterers as well as calorie-free indulgences from area boutiques.  Sweet treats weren’t the only benefit of the night; proceeds raised from the event support the Junior League of Boca Raton’s educational and charitable community projects. A sweet way to raise money and awareness for a good cause!

We began our journey of chocolate bliss in the VIP lounge where we were greeted with truffles, homemade s’mores, and peanut butter cups, each one more delicious than the next. The small lounge area hosted food vendors from III Forks, Truluck’s, Potions in Motion and Morton’s Steakhouse and Florida Builder Appliances generously showcased a Jenn-Air gas cooktop.  Leaving the VIP area we were met with chocolate cake martini’s, chocolate shots, and chocolate pizza.  The event lasted for 3 hours and there definitely wasn’t a shortage of sweets.  The small event space was filled with sweet tooth enthusiasts and by the end of the night we were ready for something less sweet and more savory, so we headed over to Wild Olives by Todd English and enjoyed a wonderful Mediterranean flat bread topped with artichokes, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, kalamata olives and carbohydrates.  The perfect ending to an indulgent filled night.

If you are a foodie with a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Decadence event is a must.  But mark your calendars because the event won’t take place again until next year.
