Charm City Burgers – Deerfield Beach

After continuously hearing about Charm City Burger Company from various people and reading they were voted best burger in 2010 for Broward and Palm Beach County, Foodies On The Fly had to try them out.

Located in a tiny plaza down the street from Deerfield Beach on Hillsboro Boulevard this little burger shop is loaded with personality, everything from the menu to the murals are colorful and you are sure to find something you like from their extensive selection of burgers, sides, beverages, and desserts.

What we ordered: The Cowboy Style Premium Steak Burger: 1/3 LB charm city steak blend patty topped with thick cut bacon, aged cheddar cheese, sautéed shrooms and grilled onions.

Cowboy Style Burger

We customized this burger with lettuce, tomato, pickle on a sesame bun (other options include whole wheat or lettuce bun). The burger was cooked to a perfect medium well and generously topped with crispy bacon, melted cheese and a pile of sautéed veggies. The burger was so high that we opted to use a knife and fork to achieve the perfect bite (every time)  without losing any toppings (back onto the plate, or our dry clean only clothing). A little messy yes, but a small price to pay for excellent American comfort food.

The Gobbler and Sweet Potato Fries

The Gobbler – This turkey burger with cranberry mustard is topped with melted Swiss cheese, crisp lettuce and a juicy tomato. The soft whole-wheat oat bun accompanied the patty perfectly and there wasn’t a crumb left in sight.  Everything on the burger was fresh and cooked perfectly and we highly suggest trying the Gobbler if you are looking for something a little different from the normal hamburger.

To complete this Americana tribute lunch of course we had to have fries and a shake.

A Charm City Lunch

We  tried the hand cut sweet potatoes fries over the traditional fries, onion rings, and tater tots.  We were offered a large basket to share but had plenty in the half order. The fries were sweet and a great addition to lunch.

Our shake was a handspun Blue Bell masterpiece. With a menu board of ice cream options it was hard to choose, but we decided on classic chocolate. The shake was thick, but not lumpy, and topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

What we thought:
Although the exterior doesn’t look very charming (parking can be a pain) the interior is laid back and welcoming with awesome food-graphic cartoons on the menu and wall mural.  There are plenty of items on the menu to please everyone and as far as the food…Both burgers we ordered were good, fresh and served in a reasonable amount of time.  So, if you are looking for a post-beach snack or a gourmet burger without the gourmet price tag , Charm City is the place to go.
